 PROJECTING HOPE. CHANGING LIVES.

KENYA, JORDAN, THAILAND, COLOMBIA, HONG KONG, AFGANISTAN, HAITI, KOSOVO & MACEDONIA, TANZANIA, USA

Using Film, Radio and Journalism created by refugees, FilmAid engages communities with dignity and respect, providing information about their rights, safety, health and well-being. Alongside public information campaigns, FilmAid trains young people in all aspects of storytelling and communications, empowering the next generation in self-advocacy.  These programs are designed to alleviate psychological problems associated with trauma, isolation, idleness, and despair, offering hope through the simple joy of the movies and the creative outlet of self-expression.

FilmAid was founded by filmmakers in 1999 in response to the refugee crisis in Kosovo.  FilmAid now reaches over 400,000 people in refugee camps and urban areas every year. It is only by leveraging the talent and tenacity of refugee communities themselves that FilmAid is able to Project Hope, and Change Lives.
